Hi all. I'm Amanda Dyslin, the features editor at The Free Press. I've started a Go&Do column to give people an idea of some of the more obscure and fun things going on in the area they might not have known about. Maybe events and things that wouldn't necessarily warrant a full-length feature, but deserves attention. The one for this week, for example, is on the new edition of the Blue Earth Review, which includes submissions from nationally known authors, such as Steve Almond, a personal favorite of mine. We did a story not too long ago on the new direction of the Blue Earth Review, and we did a story when Almond came to Mankato last fall. So, probably not material for a full-length feature. However, I thought it was column worthy.
Anyhow, I'd love ideas on exhibits and events and books and readings and anything cool going on out there that I might not have heard about. Any ideas? Thanks.

Here is something for you to “Go&Do” today (matinee at 2:30pm), went last night and enjoyed it. Go and see the Mankato West High production of The Diary of Anne Frank. Did not see it listed in the “Greater Mankato Event” Calendar so I’m plugging it here.

Amanda - I like the idea. I was always frustrated during college because I did not have a subscription to the Free Press and I always heard about events after they happened on KEYC. Now because of the subscription, I know more about what is happening in the area. Thumbs up to the Free Press for informing us about local events!

Good project Amanda. I know there are quite a few lectures and discussion groups going on in the community. I think MSU frequently and regularly has lectures on all sorts of subjects. Tomorrow, 4/21 there is going to be a lecture on the Financial Crisis presented by Yaron Brook, Executive Director, Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights. Should be interesting. I believe these lectures are open to the public.
There is another lecture 4/23 on the Furture of Newspapers. Your column might be a good venue to publish these things?
