Could Obama be sending the mortgage interest tax deduction to the scrap yard? This proposal is only to affect those that make over $250k, but could that number eventually come down?

Dan, what do you think of this? You had stated on another thread that your son makes $350k in California and cannot afford the house he wants.

"This is aimed at California and New York," said University of California, Berkeley, economist Kenneth Rosen, who has studied the interest deduction. "The problem with this is households earning more than $250,000 in New York or California may not be what we call wealthy."

I'm sure you're right. My son would probably be affected. However, I know him and how he would feel. He would miss the deduction, but he would willingly forgo the deduction to help our country. He realizes the economic dilemma we are in. All of us should be asked to do something. We have too many people who have nothing but wants, but few who arre willing to give. We all have to do our share. My son is one of them who is willing to do his share. You know, he is thankful he has had the opportunities he has had and is willing to return a favor. I'm proud of him because he is not selfish or greedy.

Does that include those who are considering walking away from their mortgages because the Obama Administration is apparrantly going to force lenders to allow mortgagors to "sell short" with no penalty?

Does that include those who are considering walking away from their mortgages because the Obama Administration is apparrantly going to force lenders to allow mortgagors to "sell short" with no penalty? There you go with that preoccupation about others. You are obsessedabout the other guy and what he has or has not done. To me this shows someone who is preoccupied with the "what's in it for me?" syndrome. I think we need to look at what's good for our country here, not selfishly obsessed with ourselves.

Also, I am astounded at the number of people who profess to be Christians, but who chronically stand in judgement of others. I would have thought that real Christians would more focus on living better lives themselves and let God make the judgements about others.

Also, the preoccupation about what others are gettin, or not, seems to be an unfair intrusion into the provate lives of others. Don't conservatives support less private intrusions?

I think sChristians and conservative need to concentrate more on living what they preach, not just talking a talk.

You are obsessedabout the other guy...

And I think it is you that is "...obsessed about the other guy...", by trying to keep them dependent on others, primarily the government!

And I think it is you that is "...obsessed about the other guy...", by trying to keep them dependent on others, primarily the government! The prior reader is continually afraid of someone getting something he doesn't. Too bad. I suggest he just try to take care of himself and not worry about others getting some help. Keeping others dependent? Truly, you are joking? Some of these people are far far more independent than the writer. They don't worry about all the benefits he gets. They aren't so meddlesome, selfish, and self-righteous to be concerned about a complainer in Mankato. They do far less complaining than the writer, but it would be more justified. I read the above post and it's like a grade school tattle-tale, whose always worried that Johnny is getting more than him. You know the whiny malcontent? I suggest the writer worry more about how to better handle his own life before he judges others.

People who go to church, but carry such hate and judegmentalism is wasting their giving. I don't think God offers heaven to the highest bidder. I think heaven is for those who try to LIVE a Christian life, not judge others. I think he retained that authority for Himself.

If that is what you got from reading my post, you missread it---not uncommon for you!

So it's OK for you to say I am "obsessed with others", but it is not OK for me to say you are "obsessed with others". I need some time to think about that logic.
